JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY— City Council will have the final approval on a proposed move, but it appears a hockey rink will remain in Roxbury Park.

The Bandshell was built back in 1939, officials with the Roxbury Bandshell Preservation Alliance felt a rink was to close it.  After three proposed moves, Bandshell Solicitor Tim Burns said they believe they come up with a cost savings solution.

“The hockey rink will remain in the park,” said Burns.  “We just think it should be moved back about 35 feet.”

The Alliance received a $10,000 to help cover costs.  The City Manager Kristen Denne will go and review the plans before making a final decision.

September 8th, 2012 is the 7th Annual Bandshell Bark in the Park.  It’s the only time residents are allowed to bring their four legged friends onto the park’s property.  Proceeds benefit the alliance, details can be found by clicking on Roxbury.
